There are two types of insomnia. The first type of insomnia is primary insomnia. Primary insomnia is caused by something that we can understand. For instance, a cause could be a bad habit or even an uncomfortable bed. Secondary insomnia on the other hand has its roots in medical causes such as depression, alcohol abuse, grief and stress. Transient insomnia is something that lasts for a period of no more than 2-3 days or 2-3 weeks.
Whatever the type of insomnia, or the cause, insomnia has the power to drain your life and affect your levels of concentration, energy and enjoyment. Persistent insomnia has also been attributed to mental health and depression.
This is where hypnosis is offering a natural yet powerful and effective tool in conquering insomnia. Hypnosis uses techniques that teach relaxation, plus focuses on what the reasons are for not being able to fall asleep. Hypnosis will help you once again control your sleeping patterns. Using positive thoughts to relax your mind and body is the root of hypnosis. What results are feelings of confidence; you are more organised and healthy. A healthy mind is equal to a healthy body when it comes to sleep.
Being able to identify which type of insomnia you suffer from will ensure that you are able to take whatever actions are necessary to conquer it. Whether your insomnia is caused by lack of exercise, by anxiety, stress and worry, or whether it is caused by lack of confidence, hypnosis has the power to reach each and every person.

Millions upon millions of people around the world suffer from insomnia. Insomnia is closely related to our stress levels and when we are out of ‘sync’ our sleep suffers as a result.
The world wide web is stuffed full of advice on how to overcome insomnia from taking sleeping draughts to turning off the television, but this advice does not address the root cause. One way to get to the problem and cure insomnia permanently so that we get a restful and refreshing sleep is through mind relaxations. Working with self hypnosis therapy is safe and effective and does not have side effects that over the counter medications can have.
Self hypnosis programs only work when you are in a state of wakefulness, but in a deep state of relaxation. This ensures that your conscious mind is open to positive suggestions of how to eliminate stress and get a consistent good night sleep. Taking it further, hypnosis therapy for insomnia will address the reasons why your sleep is disturbed, getting to the problem and this is what will ultimately help you turn your unconscious mind around so that the thoughts which trigger stressful feelings now cause thoughts of relaxation.
If we can relieve stress and train our unconscious mind to expel disturbing thoughts of anxiety and stress we will be left with feelings of peace which endure during our wakeful hours, so that when it comes time for bed we will fall asleep quickly an easily and our sleep will endure through the night resulting in waking feeling refreshed and ready for the day. The root problem of relieving stress is paramount for the hypnosis treatment to work.

Restless nights are usually caused by overactive minds and thoughts we just can’t shut off. This is caused by the active delta state of mind being dominant over the calmer alpha state of mind which the brain needs to be in so that you can fall asleep.
Hypnosis is a very effective way to treat insomnia and regulate our sleep patterns. In order to experience normal sleep we have to go through five different stages of sleep, each stage is defined by electrical patterns that occur in the brain. We have to pass through the first four stages in order to reach the REM, or Rapid Eye Movement, stage before reverting back to phase one again and repeating the sleep cycle. Each sleep cycle usually lasts about 90 minutes although this can differ somewhat from person to person.
We need to pass from Theta brain waves to Alpha brain waves in order for sleep phases to begin. Phase one is a light sleep, we are easily awakened. In stage two our brain starts to relax and our brain waves slow down. The next stage is when the brain waves slow even further and our body stops moving. We are in a deep state of sleep which is the time when some people may experience sleep walking. The final stage is the REM stage and it is in this phase when we dream.
In order to experience satisfying and restful sleep we need to trigger our brains to slip into from Theta to Alpha state, ignoring worries and anxiety. We also need to train our subconscious mind to stay asleep during the night so that we gain the full benefit of the four phases which complete our sleep and which ensure we wake refreshed.

Without sleep the human body cannot survive, that is simple fact. Many people joke about having insomnia, but often people have no idea how debilitating insomnia can be for an individual. Anyone can suffer periodic bouts of sleeplessness such as those caused by anxiety, perhaps before exams or the excitement of an event coming up.
Insomnia on the other hand is a chronic problem with far reaching consequences. Over a period of time of not having sufficient sleep your concentration levels drop off steeply and it starts showing in your poorer work performance. When your body becomes sleep deprived it can no longer do the maintenance that goes on while you sleep, it can no longer heal and rejuvenate your cells.
Don’t grab a pill, grab a cure
Doctors prescribe many different forms of sleeping medication for insomnia. These have far reaching effects. Some are addictive over time and these medications suppress dreaming and rapid eye movement during sleep. These pills also become less effective over time and then people take higher dosages to sleep. Instead of only treating the symptoms, explore the wonderful cure that hypnosis can offer to many insomniacs.
This does not involved any drugs, does not repress natural sleep and is a safe manner to treat insomnia. Your therapist will explore with you what the core issues are for your insomnia with regression therapy. Then you will be taught the techniques of talking yourself down into a deep, relaxing sleep.
Your therapist will also give you suggestion-therapy that will enable you to go to sleep and stay asleep for a decent amount of hours. There is also sleep-therapy hypnosis CDs available to aid you in the cure for your sleeplessness.
